Sichuan hospitals are being overwhelmed by the hundreds of thousands of victims of the devastating earthquake in the Sichuan province of China last month, including many school-aged children. Consequently, there is an urgent need for medical supplies. ProjectCURE has generously agreed to donate $1.2 million in supplies, but left the cost of transport up to The Chinese Earthquake Fund (CEF). On June 14th CEF held two concerts in an effort to cover a portion the cost of shipping.
Four gifted performers from C Jianxia Zhou Cultural Center in Toronto volunteered their time and talents for the evening’s event, including coloratura soprano Jianxia Zhou, tenor Ximing Gao, Flutist Chunjie Wang, and soprano Yueqiu Zheng. The concerts were a great success. Through this effort, the Chinese Earthquake Fund has received significant donations, as well as constructive suggestions for moving forward. The first full-container of medical supplies (worth over $400,000) is at this moment steaming toward it’s final destination in China.
But there is still more to do. Two additional shipments are waiting to be transported, and donations are being accepted by checks mailed to Chinese Earthquake Fund, 17343 E. Lake Place, Aurora, CO 80016. You can also make your donation online through Paypal at or by wire or bank transfer to Chinese Earthquake Fund c/o US Bank, Account: 103677787360, Routing #: 102000021.
