It has never been done before.
For the first time in Black Hawk, there is now authentic Asian cuisine, a fusion of Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai flavors. Orchid Garden at the Isle Casino Hotel Black Hawk welcomed guests at its grand opening on May 1st.
Owners John Tong and Stephanie Trieu have been in the restaurant business for decades, having operated Vietnamese eateries in Denver since 1985. When the couple initially considered opening an Asian restaurant at the Isle, the original concept was to sell pho, specifically Asian beef balls. But they knew that wouldn’t be enough. In fact, the restaurant plans to eventually add to its current selection, Korean items and sushi.
Tong says that he is excited to bring something new to Black Hawk and to bring foods that cater to the Asian casino patrons.
“Asians don’t have a place to go for food we really like,” he said. “Even buffets get old and don’t quite fit our tastes.”
Many casino regulars frequent the restaurant, while Black Hawk locals stop in for take-out. One of the most popular dishes is Pad Thai with compliments from customers that it is their favorite in the world. The deliciousness is attributed to the talented chef, former head chef at one of Denver’s most renowned Asian restaurants.</p>
Start off your meal with the Isle Egg Rolls or the Orchid Spring Rolls, adding flavor with the unique orchid-named sauces provided. And move your way to the Cantonese Egg Noodles, a tasty combination of veggies and meat, spiced with a hint of curry flavor. As the menu selection continues, the restaurant offers fancy seafood items including Dungenous Crab and Mussels.
Tong shares that beyond making traditional foods, the restaurant also provides new creations and plans to change the menu items regularly. Orchid Garden, named after the owners’ 11-year-old daughter, Orchid, plans to host events such as birthdays, weddings and concerts.
Orchid Garden is located in the skywalk between Isle and Lady Luck Casino, in a space formerly known as Kitt’s. The transformation now exudes a beautiful flower garden and waterfall, painted wall murals and real orchid flower décor.<
